When chairs assume leadership we recommend a special meeting between the chair and the executive director or CEO. This meeting should advance the priorities of the organization by ensuring that the board chair and executive understand each others roles, hopes, and expectations. 
 
This worksheet provides a basic outline of this meeting.  If this is not accomplished prior to the board chair assuming office it can be conducted any time during the year and still be beneficial.
